Street Style Colour Inspiration LFW

While there were some truely inspring collections on show on the catwalks of LFW, there was also a different kind of catwalk going on the streets of London town and in my mind it was all about COLOUR, colour and more colour - here some of my favs.

DIY Valentine Inspiration

Hi Lovelies,

Valentine’s Day is just round the corner and I thought I'd do a DIY Valentines inspiration post. I do think the day has become over commercialised; but it’s great to show or tell your loved ones how much you love and appreciate them. Instead of spending ridiculous amounts of money, why not get your DIY on and make something simple and heart felt.

Here are some of my favs - simple but incredibly sweet, don't you think?

1/ Hand stitched book

This is actually my favourite (courtesy of Free People) - it’s an adorable idea to make a hand stitched book full of  pictures, memories, jokes... actually anything you like really. It's something they can treasure for ever.

Check out Free People full post here.

2/Pill box of notes and treats

Another rather sweet and simple idea- using a pill box and filling it with love notes, sweets
and treats... who wouldn't love this?!

3/ Hearts on Toast

I don't know if I have the dexterity to make heart shaped strawberrys but I think they are so pretty, and who  wouldn't love to be woken up to this?

Have a great Valentines day from the VJA girls xxx

Charlotte Free: Picturesque in Print

Model of the moment Charlotte Free, with her unmistakable neon pink hair is looking almost picturesque in the Nov/Dec Wonderland Magazine issue. We totally fell in love with the vibrant mixture of prints against floral canvas background = AMAZEBALLS, don't you think?

Floral, fur and some leather

Hey lovelies,

In one of my previous posts (read here) I vowed to try and share more of our own style, so here we go. We will try and make it a regular feature and incorporate some of our vintage finds.

I do love this coat although I don't wear it often, I always feel like someone out of a 1970s black exploitation movie when I wear it! I picked it up a while ago at a New York flea market in Hell's Kitchen area, I think. Anyway, it was ridiculously cheap but it cost me more to get it dried cleaned than i bought it for, as it smelt like fleas had infested it!

My faux leather trousers is definitely my best buy of 2011, I’ve worn it to DEATH... I only wish I’d bought three or four.

The floral jacket from Zara was love at first site, I’ve noticed I do have a lot of floral jackets; prints and floral are something I tend to gravitate towards.

The piece de resistance has to be my £29.99 boots also from Zara, (side note: Zara's rencent collections are killing it, they are defintely more go to store on the high street)  they are certainly not the kind of boots I tend to wear; I’m more of a chunky/block heeled boots kinda girl but they are ultra-comfy and I always feel rather sexy wearing them!

Watch out for our new vintage stock coming really soon to our store. It's been a while since we've done a photo shoot, this is mainly because we are on the hunt for a new model, our Muse, Jody is out of commission for a while. So, if you live in London and are interested in being the new face of Vintage Jumble Affair please drop us a message. For now, we have some lovely vintage pieces in store >>> click HERE.

Happy thrifting

Upcycling/DIY - neon yellow choker

Hey lovelies,

As some of you will know I’ve become quite an upcycling/DIY fanatic, click here and here to see my other up cycling/DIY attempts. I bought this choker in South Africa years ago, let’s put it down to peer pressure as I’ve never actually worn it!
So, when I saw one of my fav DIY blogger A PAIR AND A SPARE's Sass and Bide inspired neon necklace (check out here), I thought this choker would be perfect for a bit of upcycing.  I love the outcome and I'll definitely be wearing it, I'll do an outfit post with it soon.

It's really easy, all you need is:
  •  necklace or piece you want to upcycle
  • neon and white paint spray
How to:
  • I would suggest you go outside to spray your piece
  • lay it down flat on newspaper and spray with the white paint spray first and leave it to dry first before spraying the neon paint - leave a few minutes between sprays so the paint doesn't pool.

One last thing, ENTER OUR GIVEAWAY - we are giving away a lovely navajo style feather earrings, check out more info in our last post HERE.
