Rodarte A/W 2011 Collection

With LFW upon us, I took a much overdue peek at the catwalks of New York via Style.com.  The Rodarte A/W 2011 collection for me was certainly the highlight - there was nothing in this collection i didn't love. The Mulleavy sisters have cleverly captured the vintage feel - from lace ruffles to Little House on the Prairie style coats with thoughtful collar detail, long sweeping dresses and antiqued like crochet and cotton mid-length skirts. With the warm sunny countryside tones and some surprising accents of colour and sparkle, Rodarte is a fashion house I will definitely be watching.

Tartan and More.

Tartan, you either love it or hate it! I myself lean towards the former… I love, love, love, j’adore tartan. I’ve got a particular tartan dress I can't bare to part with. I bought the dress when I was 15, which by the way still fits  - as long as I have someone at hand to zip me in, don’t eat, breathe or need the ladies room!

Now you know my penchant for tartan, here are a pair of gorgeous tartan jackets that we sourced on one of thrifting adventures, and more gems from our recent photo shoot… All pieces available ASOS Marketplace

One last thing, our sisters in trade Vintage Amours are holding a beginners Millinery workshop with a percentage of the proceeds going to the amazing charity; Cancer Research. This fab event will be held on the March 31st with experienced milliner, Charlotte of Vintage Amours, with cheeky cocktails thrown in. There are limited places, so for more info and to book your place click here.

Happy thrifting lovelies.

Rocking the Shoot.

Wow… what an amazing shoot we had over the weekend, I’m so excited to share these pictures with you. I think we have out done ourselves, what do you guys think?
The location was amazing, albeit the most windy and cold weather conditions imaginable, our poor Muse; Jody, was a consummate professional. We discovered the most glorious lake at the end of this stunning park, and there were certainly some great spots to take pictures; I think Celine definitely took advantage of them.
Jody, came up with the concept of the shoot after buying her super chic vintage bowler hat a few weeks back… Slash of Guns and Roses meets the girls about town, I totally think she rock it!
After a long but fun shoot, we quickly raced back to the flat and warmed ourselves with lovely cup of Chai tea and cake. Jody was already discussing ideas of our next shoot… American India, think Pocahontas meets 1960/70s Cher with her long flowing black her, she had some great pieces back in the day.
We hope you love the pictures as much as we do, and I will be posting some more soon. All and more of our vintage and Jumble pieces are available now on ASOS Marketplace.
Happy thrifting lovelies

MUSING... Lou Doillon

This Parisian chick can be summed up in just one word... COOL! We love her nonchalant, thrown together, vintage eclectic look... so Vintage Jumble Affair. You can see why Lou Doillon is the muse to so many designers.. never trying to hard, she just 'is'... marching to the beat of her own drum.. And we love her!

Oh, and super excited about our new photo shoot coming this weekend with the uber talented photographer, Celine Allano - we worked with her on our last photo shoot and she was AMAZING! We've sourced some gorgeous pieces over the last few weeks; the pictures will be up next week and clothes will be available on ASOS Marketplace.

Its all SHEER...

So, if last year was the season of the maxi skirt/dress, this year its all about the sheer maxi - the sheerer the better... well, that's my opinion! Some might say you have to be pretty brave to rock this look; but just the right amount of skin, teamed with some killer boots will definitely see you bringing back the sexy!

VJA sheer maxi skirts coming soon on our boutique at ASOS Marketplace.

Love this, so 70s..

Jewellery on my Mind...

Hi Lovelies,

I wish I could say I've been following Moptop Maven from the beginning, but I confess I've been late on the uptake. My sister has been raving about this blog for quite a while, she's obsessed with anything hair related... honestly I can't keep up with her. So I took a peek and now I'm a fully paid up Moptop stalker.  A great find on this site is Anita Grant's Rhassoul Deep Conditioning Spa Mud - my hair hasn't felt this soft in an age!

But what's really on my mind is the jewellery line Frank & Myrrh - it's ethnic/artisan inspired pieces are stunning; the understated pieces will be a wardrobe staple for years to come.

Oh, don't forget to enter our retro style Casio competition.

Amongst Cactcus Flowers Bloom

VintageJumbleAffair bids you a Vintage NEW YEAR!

It's been mentioned to us on quite a few occasions that we should  actually introduce ourselves, and let you into our own personal styles.  Over the next few weeks we'll be posting insider previews of our unique styles, our vintage obsessions, and diary lite insight into our fashion filled lives.

I'm going to start by sharing my recent super short holiday break to Lanzarote, I'm Abi and part of the VJA collective.

My aversion to sunbathing was well and truly behind me on my recent trip to Lanzarote..  I usually come out in heat rash, but on this trip i was soaking up the sun in full knowledge that in a few days I would only be seeing snow, snow, rain and maybe more snow! My stunning ocean view apartment was gorgeous and beyond luxurious, I didn't want to come back.. if only this could be real life!
I'm totally fell in love with the Island, the landscape is breathtaking. Lanzarote is made up of centuries old volcanic rocks were small towns, which are all painted white, have been carved out of huge volcanic mountains making them look almost like miniature toy towns.
Unfortunately no thrifting was done, I missed the Saturday market, my plane was 2hrs delayed.. beyond annoyed.  I'd Googled my arse  off looking for secondhand markets before the trip and planned to drop my bag off and head straight there. But what I may have lacked in vintage thrifting I more than made up by stocking up on the Lanzorate sun.
