I'm competing at the OLYMPICS!!

Hey lovelies,

You may have guessed from the title of this post why I've been a terrible blogger!

As some of you may know from my previous posts I'm a track and field athlete, to be more precise i run 100m and 200m - read here and here. I was living in Orlando, Florida for a while, chasing the sun and getting some much needed warm weather training in order to prepare for the season. Anyway, I'm waffling, so I'll just get right to the point... yes, you've guessed it, I WILL BE COMPETING ATHE OLYMPIC GAMES, which kicks off in less than 8 days!!!

So, there you have it, I've been a crap blogger because i been trying to qualify for the Great Britain team... i think that warrants a good excuse?!

Anyway, from now on I'll be getting my blogging on and bringing you all that's new with VJA, so watch this space.

You can follow us on our facebook  where i will be updating my Olympic journey and of course on our twitter - @vintagejumble or my own personal twitter account - @abioyepitan

DIY Waxed Denim

Hi Lovelies,

thought I’d share this really simple way to DIY/Upcycle denim trousers (courtesy of Because I'm Addicted) by simply using heavy duty fabric wax and a blow dryer. For those of you who follow our blog, you'll know i've become quite the DIY/Upcycling fanatic - i love discovering ways to update my wardrobe without breaking the bank, and there are so many ingenious ideas out there.

I'm totally gutted that I’ve already bought some waxed denims from Zara, although it's not going to stop me from trying this.  I’m sure some of you have some skinny denims kicking about in your wardrobe, alternatively head down to your local charity shop and pick up a cheap pair.

Check out Because I'm Addicted's  full post here.

Here's to a Summer full of Festival Fun!

Although i'm kinda over the never ending tweets about Coachella, i have to say that i do love festival fashion and Coachella is no expectation - boho chic came out in full force and below are some of my favs.

I honestly can't wait for the Isle of Wight festival, obviously for the great music but equally to for the fab fashion - i've started planning my wardrobe, (well, only in my head) and i've got my sister to thrift for vintage pieces for me while she in the States.

I'm definitely going to start taking full advantage of my guest passes ( perks of the job) and venture to a few more festivals this year, so i'm thinking V Festival, Bestival and maybe Reading!

So, here is to a summer of full of festival fun!

First Aid Kit

Hey lovelies,

working in the music industry you would think i would be in the know with the latest on the music scene, unfortunately this is sometimes not the case. With the churning out of artists and bands, lets just say, not to my taste, i sometimes miss some true gems. This was certainly the case with the Swedish sister, folk duo,  First Aid Kit.

Their new album 'The Lion's Roar' is nothing less than enchanting, i urge you to check out their latest video on Youtube. I was initially drawn to the photography on their album, taken by Neil Krug, which is mesmerising and takes you back to the hippie carefree festival days of the 1970s. And I just love the texture and the use of light in the photographs.

Boredom, some DIY and thrifting

Hey from the Sunshine State,

I'm in Orlando at the moment, I'm actually staying in a place called Ocoee, which is about 20mins from Orlando. This is where the party at.... NOT, It’s ridiculously boring but I’m keeping myself entertained. I'll be residing here until May and I’m slowly getting used to the slow pace of life!

I'm here training and competing, trying to qualify for the Olympics 2012.  On my off days I’ve been getting my thrifting on like a mad woman, check out some of my gorgeous finds on INSTAGRAM (@vintagejumbleaffair) - I honestly don't know how I'm going to get all the stuff back to the UK!

In the spirit of keeping myself entertained I’ve also been getting my DIY/up-cycling on. I've seen this dip-dye denim trend all over street blogs and I thought I’d give it a go. It’s really easy, all you need is bleach, a bucket or you can use your sink and make sure you are in a well-ventilated room or do it outside.

Although I was only trying to dye the sleeves I did managed to get some bleach on the front and back of the shirt but I kinda like the affect.
