I'm competing at the OLYMPICS!!

Hey lovelies,

You may have guessed from the title of this post why I've been a terrible blogger!

As some of you may know from my previous posts I'm a track and field athlete, to be more precise i run 100m and 200m - read here and here. I was living in Orlando, Florida for a while, chasing the sun and getting some much needed warm weather training in order to prepare for the season. Anyway, I'm waffling, so I'll just get right to the point... yes, you've guessed it, I WILL BE COMPETING ATHE OLYMPIC GAMES, which kicks off in less than 8 days!!!

So, there you have it, I've been a crap blogger because i been trying to qualify for the Great Britain team... i think that warrants a good excuse?!

Anyway, from now on I'll be getting my blogging on and bringing you all that's new with VJA, so watch this space.

You can follow us on our facebook  where i will be updating my Olympic journey and of course on our twitter - @vintagejumble or my own personal twitter account - @abioyepitan

DIY Waxed Denim

Hi Lovelies,

thought I’d share this really simple way to DIY/Upcycle denim trousers (courtesy of Because I'm Addicted) by simply using heavy duty fabric wax and a blow dryer. For those of you who follow our blog, you'll know i've become quite the DIY/Upcycling fanatic - i love discovering ways to update my wardrobe without breaking the bank, and there are so many ingenious ideas out there.

I'm totally gutted that I’ve already bought some waxed denims from Zara, although it's not going to stop me from trying this.  I’m sure some of you have some skinny denims kicking about in your wardrobe, alternatively head down to your local charity shop and pick up a cheap pair.

Check out Because I'm Addicted's  full post here.

Floral, fur and some leather

Hey lovelies,

In one of my previous posts (read here) I vowed to try and share more of our own style, so here we go. We will try and make it a regular feature and incorporate some of our vintage finds.

I do love this coat although I don't wear it often, I always feel like someone out of a 1970s black exploitation movie when I wear it! I picked it up a while ago at a New York flea market in Hell's Kitchen area, I think. Anyway, it was ridiculously cheap but it cost me more to get it dried cleaned than i bought it for, as it smelt like fleas had infested it!

My faux leather trousers is definitely my best buy of 2011, I’ve worn it to DEATH... I only wish I’d bought three or four.

The floral jacket from Zara was love at first site, I’ve noticed I do have a lot of floral jackets; prints and floral are something I tend to gravitate towards.

The piece de resistance has to be my £29.99 boots also from Zara, (side note: Zara's rencent collections are killing it, they are defintely more go to store on the high street)  they are certainly not the kind of boots I tend to wear; I’m more of a chunky/block heeled boots kinda girl but they are ultra-comfy and I always feel rather sexy wearing them!

Watch out for our new vintage stock coming really soon to our store. It's been a while since we've done a photo shoot, this is mainly because we are on the hunt for a new model, our Muse, Jody is out of commission for a while. So, if you live in London and are interested in being the new face of Vintage Jumble Affair please drop us a message. For now, we have some lovely vintage pieces in store >>> click HERE.

Happy thrifting

Upcycling/DIY - neon yellow choker

Hey lovelies,

As some of you will know I’ve become quite an upcycling/DIY fanatic, click here and here to see my other up cycling/DIY attempts. I bought this choker in South Africa years ago, let’s put it down to peer pressure as I’ve never actually worn it!
So, when I saw one of my fav DIY blogger A PAIR AND A SPARE's Sass and Bide inspired neon necklace (check out here), I thought this choker would be perfect for a bit of upcycing.  I love the outcome and I'll definitely be wearing it, I'll do an outfit post with it soon.

It's really easy, all you need is:
  •  necklace or piece you want to upcycle
  • neon and white paint spray
How to:
  • I would suggest you go outside to spray your piece
  • lay it down flat on newspaper and spray with the white paint spray first and leave it to dry first before spraying the neon paint - leave a few minutes between sprays so the paint doesn't pool.

One last thing, ENTER OUR GIVEAWAY - we are giving away a lovely navajo style feather earrings, check out more info in our last post HERE.

Instagraming...

Hey lovelies,

So, after being a long life Blackberry user I've defected to the iPhone. I'm still getting used to it, although I do miss the practicality of the BB, the iPhone is much more fun! Consequently I've joined instagram, well @vintagejumbleaffair has joined instagram. I love the fact instagram acts like a micro blog and you can reach your followers instantly. Anyway, these are some pics i've taken over the week.

We would love to follow our readers so leave us a comment with your instagram user name, and please join us on instagram, you'll find us at 'Vintagejumbleaffair'.

Also, we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and wonderful New Year; may 2012 bring you all you wish for and much more.

1/  My Zara obsession continues;  I won't bore  you with how many items I’ve bought from their winter collection. Anyway, these boots are not my usual taste but for £29.99 I was persuaded.

2/ Another Zara purchase, I had to hunt this jacket down, thank  God for Westfield!

3/ My fav yellow chair, nobody sits on this chair but me! I had to beg my boyfriend to buy it when he was renovating his house... he hates the cushion!

4/ Outfit I wore when I visited my friend in Cheltenham - H&M pink trousers, thrifted jumper and fur coat. I just love the regency houses in the background.

5/ driving to Cheltenham and admiring the stunning senery.

6/ Hummingbird cupcakes never fails to lift my mood.

7/ Amazing book cover prints from Bookish Designs , so many classics.

8/ Upcycling my never worn chocker, i'll be blogging that soon.

Pretty much eclectic.

Hey lovelies,

one of my pastimes is to look at my favourite blogs, actually I’m kinda addicted! I love seeing what other people are wearing; I’m really intrigued by people’s sense of style.  I've always wanted to share with our readers what inspires my style but unfortunately I don't have a live in photographer and I’m not particularly confident in front of the camera. Anyway, these are some of the pics my friend took of me on our way to some of the hidden vintage spots in Crystal Palace.
I initially had a turban on hence the messy hair, but my style, I would say, is pretty much eclectic, you will rarely see me immaculately put together, although I try... unsuccessfully!

Battersea carboot

This girls hair was out if this world....  amazing!

Hey lovelies,

I haven't blogged in a while, I’ve been ridiculously busy lately and I’ve just returned back to training after a month off, which is kicking my butt!

Anyway, these street style pics have been seating on my laptop for ages, I shoot them at Battersea carboot fair when we had the freakish heat wave!  My sister talked me into doing my first ever boot fair to get rid of the ever mounting load of stuff we‘ve had piling up in our storeage room, and although we had a laugh and made a fair bit of coinage, the sun was draining the life out me!

Battersea is one of my favourite carboots, you can always pick up some gorgeous vintage/second-hand pieces and you never know who you'll bump into!! We met the lovely bloggers Jazzabelle of Jazzabelle’s Diary’ and Kristabel of ‘I Want You To Know’, and they are as sweet as their respective blogs suggests.

In other news, we are now officially on ASOS Marketplace has a boutique, and to celebrate we are giving our lovely facebook and boutique followers 10% off their next purchase. You can find out more by checking out our facebook page and please do spread the word about VJA
